Over 10,000 yen and 3 hours of train and bus rides for a few minutes looking at a waterfall sounds slightly out of proportions to me. Check the timetables below on whether it even possible within your preferred time frame: Train timetables: http://www.hyperdia.com/Here is the bus timetable to the waterfall (valid until April 6): http://www.kkkg.co.jp/download/img/2012rosen.xlsŒyˆä‘ò‰w means Karuizawa Station ”’Ž…‚Ì‘ê means Shiraito Falls How from tokyo to Fukiware Falls ?By train to Jomo Kogen or Numata Station and then further by bus. The bus timetable is here: http://www.kan-etsu.net/r-bus/timetable/numata-kamata-1.htm (in direction of the waterfall) http://www.kan-etsu.net/r-bus/timetable/kamata-numata-1.htm (back to the station) ã–Ñ‚Œ´‰w means Jomo Kogen Station À“c‰w” means Numata Station (departure) Š„‚Ì‘ê means Fukiware Falls can doit half day ?Same as with Karuizawa. You will be spending close to 4 hours on transportation and spend around 10,000 yen for a few minutes around a waterfall. The fact that you wish to continue to Kawaguchiko afterwards just adds another 2 hours of transportation. If you do not mind spending more time on transportation than sightseeing and have a large budget, it probably is feasible.

As for Karuizawa, it is actually a ways from Tokyo...will you take shinkansen? That's the best way... When I was there-shiraito falls, several years ago, I think there was buses that went from karuizawa station... but it was school trip...so maybe it was exception, also there are taxis, but they are quite expensive. Also the falls are outside of karuizawa from the station, so hopefully you are not pressed for time!
Have fun!

hi Uji-san i try to make plan with links you gave me, it become like this :
UENO - KARUIZAWA 08:00 am
08.42 depart Ueno (Shinkansen Asama 509) 09.45 arrive Karuizawa 10.04 Depart Karuizawa 10.23 arrive Shiraito waterfall 14.00 depart shiraitono toki 14.19 arrive Karuizawa 14.24 depart Karuizawa 15.26 Ueno
like this? question :
from hyperdia stop at Karuizawa, it means city or Karuizawa station or just Karuizawa? same with Karuizawa station or Karuizawa at time table for bus?
or from arrive at Karuizawa i must walk to station bus at Karuizawa or Karuizawa station? i am a bit confuse abt that. yeah it will high cost but i have JR PASS, so just need pay for bus around only , right? 710 * 2 Y.
my time back from Shiraito is correct?
thanks

The bus departs Karuizawa Station at 10:00, not 10:04.
Note that most people will probably just spend around 30 minutes to see the waterfall (including 5-10 minutes to walk there from the bus stop), and there is not much else to do around there. So, 3.5 hours will be too much time unless you have some special plans. There is a bus back at 10:53, which would give you 30 minutes.

Karuizawa Station is the main station in the city of Karuizawa. It is Karuizawa Station (Œyˆä‘ò‰w) where you will be transferring between bus and train. The bus just stops in front of the station.

hi Uji,

07.14 Ueno (shinkansen toki) 08.08 arrive Takasaki 08.24 depart Takasaki (JR joetsu line) 09.11 arrive Numata 09.17 depart Numata Station depart ( bus) 10.15 arrive Fukiware falls 12.40 depart Fukiware falls (bus) 13.37 arrive Numata Station at here i stop at À“c‰w” or À“c‰w’… ? 14.14 depart numata 16.06 ueno
like this? hope what Ariza said not happened lately, because have buses now, right?
how about Asakusa , Odaiba, Tokyo tower, Shibuya, Harajuku, Shinjuku how the best route?

09.17 depart Numata Station depart ( bus) 10.15 arrive Fukiware falls
The bus arrives at the waterfall at 10:05 not 10:15
12.40 depart Fukiware falls (bus) 13.37 arrive Numata Station
The bus arrives at Numata Station at 13:34 not 13:37. À“c‰w” means departing Numata and À“c‰w’… means arriving Numata.
Have you looked into using Jomo Kogen Station on the shinkansen instead? With good connections it could save you further time.
how about Asakusa , Odaiba, Tokyo tower, Shibuya, Harajuku, Shinjuku how the best route?
All in one day? That's a lot. Probably too much. The route depends on where you will start and end the day. Assuming you start and end the day in Shinjuku, I suggest: My suggested route: Tokyo Tower - (subway) - Asakusa - (boat) - Odaiba - (Rinkai Line) - Shibuya - (Yamanote Line or walk) - Harajuku - (Yamanote Line) - Shinjuku

By the way, more than two hours is again a long time to see the waterfall. The average person probably just spends 30 minutes to access and see the waterfall. However, there are many shops and tourist cafeterias around the waterfall, where you could have lunch and spend some time. Or you could take an earlier bus back.

if i take jomo Kogen means more save time at train, but i think more longer with bus after that , right? i saw route jomo kogen-numata-waterfall. if like that i prefer with train then must more longer by bus :) or maybe you have other opinion? because i dont know the fact abt route :)
yeah maybe too long abt time for waterfall, but because the trip so long , i want more enjoy them...i can spent more time for nature than time for shopping at mall :)
about route at Tokyo, not one day but one and half day after back from Fukiware waterfall. and i will start from my hotel, Ueno area. so how?
thank

Yes.
because i read some question abt Fukiware , said they closed at winter.
I was under the impression that they are open around the year. Maybe it is a confusion stemming from the fact that the road between Nikko and the Falls is closed during winter.
