JR Pass now valid for Nozomi?

I am planning to travel from Tokyo to Hiroshima , Kyoto, and back to Tokyo in July. A friend of mine was in Japan last year and he guaranteed me the JR Pass does allow boarding the Nozomi line, as a new train line is now in place (and that new one is out of reach for JR Pass). Is that true?

No, the Nozomi is NOT covered by the Japan Rail Pass. Maybe your friend meant the JR West Sanyo Pass, which covers the Nozomi. But the nationwide Japan Rail Pass does not.
