How can I buy train ticket for this route?

Hi, anyone can suggest me how I can buy / make reservation on this train route:

1. morning (around 8am): Hakuba - Hotaka (JR Oito line)
* travel to Daio Wasabi Farm - then back to Hotaka stn.
2. around noon: Hotaka - Matsumoto (JR Oito line)
* travel to Matsumoto Castle, then back to stn.
3. Matsumoto - Nagoya (JR Chuo line + LTd. Exp Shinano) - Shin-Osaka (Shinkansen Hikari/Nozomi)

*All routes are on the same day.

As understand, route #1 & 2 are just buy as need. But #3, I may need reservation. Can I do it at Hakuba station?

You can purchase a single base fare ticket from Hakuba to Shin-Osaka plus supplement tickets for the limited express and shinkansen rides. It will give you minor savings over buying separate tickets for the Hakuba-Hodaka and Hokata-Matsumoto sections.

In other words: your base fare ticket from Hakuba to Osaka will allow you to get on and off at stations along the way (but no backtracking is allowed). It will come out back of the gates when you exit the station at Hodaka and Matsumoto (or will be handed back to you at a manned gate - I am not sure whether Hodaka Station has automatic gates).
